September fit normal weather patterns in Geary County.
Chuck Otte, extension agent, said the average daily high during the month was 78.4, 1.8 degrees below normal. The average overnight low for the month was 59.1, 3.1 degrees above normal. That gave the county a monthly mean temperature of 68.7, six tenths of a degree above normal.
The lower than normal highs, and higher than normal lows were both caused by the uncommon amount of cloudy weather that occurred.
Rainfall in September was a case of depending on where you were. Average September rainfall is 3.28 inches. Milford Lake fell slightly below that with 3.23 inches, while Junction City came in well below average with only 2.54 inches.
