A new exhibit focusing on the 1950’s and early 1960’s will open at the Geary County Historical
Museum in 2015.
Heather Hagedorn, Museum Curator, said there are children coming into the Museum who have no idea what happened in the 1950’s and 60’s. Objects, with the exception of clothing, are needed for the exhibit.
“We’re really looking for small appliances. I would even take large appliances if you happen to have them in your attic or basement.” Older televisions are another item that could be of interest.
Hagedorn said the exhibit will open at the beginning of 2015, and will run for one and possibly two years. “So if items are loaned they’ll be in the museum for quite awhile for people to enjoy. We’re just going to be focusing on family life in Geary County during that time period. ” There will also be information on the current events of the time.
Hagedorn is also willing to meet with members of the public to record their stories from the time period.
