Military retirees who attend the Retiree Appreciation Day at Fort Riley, Friday, Oct. 24 can
receive four important inoculations including flu, pneumonia, whooping cough, and shingles, during the Health Fair that day.
There will also be key speakers with messages important to the Military Retiree community.
Headlining the list of speakers will be Major General Paul Funk II, 1st Infantry Division Commanding General, Irwin Army Community Hospital Commander, Colonel Risa D. Ware, and Glenn Seutter, the United Healthcare Military and Veterans Representative who will detail Tricare and Medicare information to those in attendance.
Geary County Commissioner Larry Hicks will also give an inspirational talk about how he “died” enroute home from work in Washington D.C., but lived to tell about it and how he has recovered to again lead an active private, public and political life,
There will also be a County Fair with information booths of interest to military retirees, and the Health Fair where retirees can gain information on life sustainment, and the annual shots.
Retirees can learn how to make reservations for the luncheon at Fort Riley Appreciation Day by calling the Fort Riley Retirement Services office at 785-239-3320. Lunch reservations must be made prior to Oct. 15.
There will also be drawings for more than $1,000 in prizes throughout the day.
