A former Kansas State football cornerback David Garrett was shot and killed outside a nightclub in Cleveland, Ohio early Saturday morning.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper reported that Garrett, 26, was identified as the man shot and killed outside a nightclub.
Garrett was shot in the chest, and taken to a hospital where he died about 4 a.m.
Witnesses reported to police that there had been a fight inside the nightclub. It continued outside, and someone fired a shot into the crowd, hitting Garrett, according to police.
Garrett joined the K-State football program in 2009, and was an honorable mention All-Big 12 choice following the 2010 season.
