Tony Orlando will perform a live concert Saturday from 2:oo p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the grounds of the Eisenhower Presidential Library, Museum and Boyhood Home in Abilene.
The concert will be the concluding event of the activities honoring the
124th birthday of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Orlando told JCPost.com that his performance is,”the right thing to do when you’re talking about one of the greatest Presidents we’ve ever had.”
“I’ve been working with the Eisenhower Foundation for many years now. I’m friends with the family, Mary Eisenhower specifically is a very dear friend of mine, the grand-daughter of the President. I’ve always wanted to continue on keeping, whatever I can do, to keep a legacy alive and recognition of this man. He won the war in Europe, he and that generation saved the world,” said Orlando.
Some of Orlando’s greatest hits include “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree”, “Knock Three Times”, and “Candida”.
Other events taking place Saturday include “On the Air,” a tribute to Bob Hope and Radio Stars of the 1940’s, starring Lynn Roberts and featuring Chuck Carson as the NBC Announcer.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for Active Duty Military and free for children.
