It will not happen for many years, but a future I-70 – Taylor Road interchange project west of Junction City is in the early discussion stage.
Cheryl Beatty, Interim Junction City Manager, said the proposed project was taken to the regional Metropolitan Planning Organization. “That would be a futuristic project that we’re simply asking KDOT to look for preliminary engineering for the possibilities of an interchange at Taylor Road and I-70.”
Beatty said during discussion on comprehensive master plans there was discussion about that including that area as industrial land. She made it clear this is a project that would not happen for some time…”10, 15, 20 years out.”
Beatty added that you have to put everything in the que that far ahead of time in order to get projects for the future. “Good planning leads to good development of the community.”
Beatty updated City Commissioners on the proposed project this week.
