A motions hearing was held Wednesday in Riley County District Court for the suspect in the stabbing death of a Manhattan man in September of last year.

Anthony Nichols, 34, Kansas City, Kansas appeared in court Wednesday according to Barry Disney, Assistant Riley County Attorney. Disney explained that the hearing was set as a trial date with the understanding that it would be pushed back.

A new trial date, one that Disney believes will be the date of the actual jury trial, was scheduled for March 10th.

Nichols is charged with first degree murder involving the stabbing death of John Burroughs, 68, Manhattan on Sept. 8, 2013.

Nichols also appeared in Geary County District Court last week, where he waived his preliminary hearing in a case involving the shooting death of Anthony Nixon, 37, Junction City at the intersection of 10th and Webster on Sept. 7, 2013.
