The ad for the new EDC Director Position in the Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce will not contain a narrow salary range.

The initial proposed job description included a salary in the $60,000 to $80,000 range, but that changed at the monthly EDC meeting. That board recommended instead that a competitive wages and benefits package commensurate on experience be listed.

Economic Development Commissioner Gary Schoenrock noted the EDC could afford to pay more to get the right person. “It’s my opinion that EDC for Junction City needs the best qualified individual, and by limiting the upper end of the salary I think it’s foolish because we could certainly be eliminating some really top notch people that we really desperately need for Junction City and its future.”

During discussion among EDC board members possible salary amounts had ranged from the $60,000 – $80,000 all the way up to $150,000 but no definite decision on an exact amount is near. The next step is to advertise the position.
