The Geary USD 475 Board of Education will receive a report on the budget impact of the preliminary enrollment count for the 2014-15 school year when they meet Monday at the Devin Center. The meeting begins at 5 p.m.
The enrollment count was taken September 22. The Board will also discuss the District’s activity bus, consider an Energy Conservation Policy on first reading, and receive a report on the desire by the District to submit a competitive proposal for a 2015 Early Childhood Block Grant totaling $517,927.
The District said the purpose of the grant is to provide Children’s Initiatives Fund dollars through the Kansas Children’s Cabinet and Trust Fund to provide / implement evidence-based or innovative early childhood services to at-risk children birth to five, including services for prenatal and family supports. Geary County has received funding through this funding stream ( formerly Smart Start ) for the past eight years. The District’s local match for this grant, if received, would be $57,547.
The staff has recommended that the Board approve the district cash match at $57,547.
