Milford Lake will return to a combined “Advisory / Warning” status as a result of samples collected
last Monday.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has determined that areas north of Farnum Creek will remain in a “Warning” status but all areas south of Farnum Creek will return to an “Advisory” level status.
Cell counts came down dramatically from results last week but remain in the warning level for collection sites located at the City of Milford, Timber Creek, and the City of Wakefield.
In his news release on the latest status the Operations Project Manager for the Corps of Engineers R. J. Harms noted that toxin levels at all five locations sampled were below the advisory threshold. He said samples will again be collected next Monday, and the hope is that the downward trend continues, and Milford Lake can be removed from weekly monitoring.
