Rick Dykstra Ends Time with CVB

The 14-year run for Rick Dykstra, Assistant Director of the Geary County Convention and Visitor’s

Bureau ends with his retirement from that job, effective Wednesday ( Oct. 1 ).

During a retirement reception at the Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday Dykstra told the audience his time with the CVB has been tremendous. He remembered he arrived in this area 35 years ago as an Army private, and then stayed calling it ” a wonderful place to raise a family, and have a business….just a privelige.”

A tearful CVB Director Connie Hall pointed out a number of accomplishments and projects that sh and Dykstra have worked on together. They range from the attraction of major national fishing tournaments to Milford Lake to the effort to have the convention center built in Junction City.

Hall cited Dykstra’s innovative and creative efforts and noted, “he has put Junction City and Geary County’s name out there.

Those attending the reception included local community members and visitors from Wichita, Manhattan, and Kansas City.

Dykstra is unsure about his future plans. He noted he plans to take one or two weeks off and then begin looking for other opportunities.
