The Kansas State University Skydiving Club will be celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this weekend in Abilene.
The club will be holding a 50th Anniversary Boogie Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday at the Abilene Municipal Airport. The Boogie is open to the public and the club is inviting everyone to come out and watch.
William Hitchcock with Skydive K-State in Abilene explained that they are bringing in special planes for the event.
“Sky-vans that hold up to 23 jumpers,” says Hitchcock. “We’ve got a lot of old alumni coming in from various states, some even that are in New York are coming back.”
The club will also be offering tandem jumps for anyone who is interested for $225 a jump.
“With that you can do video or get a hand cam that your instructor is going to hold to take still pictures of you.”
They are expecting to have up to 60 skydivers jumping an hour from 8 a.m. through sundown all three days.
