Chamber Retreat Focuses on Future of Chamber of Commerce

The Junction City area Chamber of Commerce held a Chamber Retreat Wednesday morning at Rock Springs 4-H Center and discussed the direction in which the Chamber, and it’s four divisions are moving.

Tom Weigand, Chamber CEO explained that they are looking at chambereverything,”from job descriptions, location of personnel. We have some people to hire, we’re going to bear down on getting the right person for economic development.”

Both the Junction City Commission and Geary County Commission have approved the use of carry over funds within the JCACC budget to fund the salary of a full-time Economic Development Specialists within the JCACC.

Weigand explained that he felt it’s very apparent that economic development is very “crucial” to this community, and finding the right person to fill that position is a top priority.

“We’ve got a lot of things to offer in that area, and so getting the right person in that place is going to be the top priority.”

A committee is being formed to outline the job description for the position. The hope is to have someone in that position by the end of the year.
