The possibility of moving city and school elections in Kansas from April to November could be an issue in the 2015 session of the Kansas Legislature.

That’s the view of the Kansas County Clerk’s Association, explains Geary County Clerk Rebecca Bossemeyer. “The word that we’re getting is that moving city – school elections to November, be it in odd numbered or even numbered years is really up for debate. But we do anticipate that will be a topic that the Legislature will introduce again next year.”
Bossemeyer added if the elections are moved the County Clerk’s Association position is that they want it in November of odd numbered years. Bossemeyer agrees with that position. “Moving it into even numbered years I think would make the ballot so long that people won’t participate farther down the ballot.”
The issue received discussion in the 2014 session of the Legislature, but no final action was taken.
