The Geary County Public Works Department is currently doing a full mowing of nearly all of the county roads.

Florence Whitebread, County Commissioner explained Monday that every three or four years they go ahead and mow all of the roads in the county.

“This is one of the years they are trying to do it to stop some of the brush growth from wild plums, and the sumac and whatever else grows in the roadway,” says Whitebread.

By mowing the roads and the brush it helps prevent the county from having to spray them later with poison.
