A new memorial honoring all veterans from past wars has been dedicated in
Heritage Park in downtown Junction City.
Master of Ceremonies Joe Belardo stated the monument is a work of art. “And will serve to solidify the veterans’ resolve for all the POW/MIA’s from all wars.”
The Flint Hills Morning Rotary Club took the idea this past January and led the effort to raise $30,000 for the project. Spokesman Steve Pringle noted, “We figured a two to three year project just to raise the money. And within nine months, with the community’s help, which was outstanding, they had the money raised.”
The new memorial is located a short distance from the Kansas Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Heritage Park.
