Munson Prime begins serving steaks Saturday night ( Sept. 20 )
This is the new upscale steakhouse at 426 Goldenbelt Boulevard in Junction City.
Reservations are being encouraged. Deanna Munson said they will be serving from 5 – 8 p.m. Saturday. “We have a lot of reservations. We highly encourage reservations. So if you’re thinking about coming out Saturday night it would be great to give us a call.
The steakhouse will also begin their regular hours this weekend, including Sunday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., and again that evening from 5-8 p.m. The steakhouse will be open Thursday and Friday evenings as well, and they will serve farm – ranch style meals weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The business also includes a homemade ice cream operation with a drive through, and a retail meat store.
The steakhouse is located in the former Sirloin Stockade Restaurant building, which was gutted, and redone in dark wood and stone.
Munson stated, “We hope that people come to enjoy. I had probably what I consider the nicest compliment yet, with some high school kids from Chapman who did a tour. And two of them as they went out the door said I love this place. It feels like a home, not a restaurant. And I thought well that’s really what we’re trying to accomplish.”
There is an open lounge area right in front of the bar in the middle of the steakhouse. “And we have leather chairs, upholstered, one of them is even a recliner. And the couch is a large leather couch with a coffee table in the middle. And we certainly hope that people literally feel at home in the lounge area. ”
Munson noted in the future there will be more things going on with the bar. “And we have the piano that was at the Opera House that they rescued right before it burned in 1898. And that piano has been restored. It plays beautifully.
The Charles and Deanna Munson family own the steakhouse. They serve their own Munson Premium Angus beef.
