The Junction City Commission approved amendments to the 2014 Street Maintenance Program Tuesday night adding additional mill and overlay and concrete patching projects to the program.
The projects were originally left out of the program because it was unsure if the projects included would need additional work
according to Greg McCaffery, Municipal Services Director.
“We were particularly concerned about some of the sub-base on some of the roads, as well as, some of the curb and gutter work that needed to be undertaken in the areas. We had original estimates and we just didn’t want to exceed the allotted dollars that were within the program,” says McCaffery.
The additional mill and overlay include the mill and overlay of 9th street between Jefferson and Price, following the completion of the water main replacement being completed along that section. It also includes the milling of part of East Street from the round-a-about to the city limits.
The concrete patch projects include storm system repairs on Jackson Street north of 14th and curb and gutter and asphalt base repairs on Jackson Street south of 6th. Additional work will be performed around the intersection of Lacy Drive and Sandusky, along with minor concrete work in and around various manholes along Jackson Street, between 6th and 18th Streets.
Funding for the additional projects are available within the $1.1 million 2014 Street Maintenance Program budget.
