The longtime Assistant Director of the Geary County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, Rick Dykstra, is planning to retire.

Geary County Commissioner Ben Bennett confirmed after the monthly CVB Advisory Committee meeting that Dykstra had announced his retirement. “Kind of a shock to a lot of the people that were in the room. And he’s turned in his letter of resignation during the meeting today. ”

Bennett added Dykstra would step down around the first of October.

JCPost.com reached Dykstra, who confirmed his plan to retire. He plans to talk about it on Wednesday. Dykstra has been employed with the CVB for approximately 14 years.
