annual Kansas Emergency Management Association convention.

Reno County Emergency Coordinator Todd Strain is among those attending. He noted one class involved the Kansas Disaster Assessment Team. Getting acquainted with those personnel is important. “To meet with the people that are actually involved in it…okay if we have to call them in we know who they are face to face. ”

Other classes range from Cyber Security to Disaster Behavioral Health.

For Strain, this is a visit home. He grew up in Geary County and is now the emergency management coordinator in Reno County.

Strain is a 1985 graduate of Junction City High School and Kansas State University.  He grew up in Geary County. “My folks still live out in eastern Geary County.” His parents are John and Sharon Strain.

As of late Wednesday afternoon 164 participants had registered for the convention at the Courtyard by Marriott Convention Center.
