The Junction City Blue Jays open their football season at Highland Park Friday night.

Coach Randall Zimmerman has had been pleased with the defense in the first three weeks of practice. “We’ve got the experience there. We have six kids there returning with really good starting experience. Five of those kids started all year long. Three of those kids are all league kids. And we’re still young. Those kids are all young kids yet. ”

On offense there is more concern, mainly with the offensive line.

“Mainly because we’re so inexperienced and young on the offensive side. We’re trying to feel our way with our offensive line.”
