The annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive held at the Municipal Building in Junction City has wrapped up and the Junction City Fire Department is taking back the trophy from the Junction City Police Department and Geary County Sheriff’s Office.

The JCFD received 79 votes compared to the 56 received by the JCPD and Geary County Sheriff’s Office.

Battalion Chief Bill Kausler with the JCFD said it’s always a good thing to beat their competition.

“We love the Police Department, but anytime you can beat your fellow competitors in any kind of a competition, it’s always a good thing,” says Kausler.

He also recognized the importance of donating blood.

“Giving blood is always a good thing. We run the ambulance department here so we see a lot of people that are in need, it’s a great organization and we’re just glad we can help.”

Overall the blood drive came up just two donations short of goal on Thursday, but exceeded Fridays goal by 20 for a total of 149 donations.
