Kites Grille and Bar at 602 N Washington in Junction City has closed it’s doors for good.
That was confirmed by Susan Jagerson, EDC Specialist with the Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce.
“They’ve been starting the closing procedures for a little bit, but we found
out yesterday (Tuesday) that they were actually going to close. Things had been going on, both personally and professionally, and then some other factors that have played into the part that made them close,” says Jagerson.
Kites had closed the restaurant but remained to open the bar in the evenings.
Jagerson said that she believes at one point in time Kites had employed up to 25 employees and they had been working on reducing that over time in anticipation of closing.
Losing another business downtown will impact the local economy but Jagerson is hopeful that they will be able to get a new tenant into the building quickly.
“I think that’s a really, really choice location, and I think people will be able to see that. We’re working to see what we can come up with and there are others that are working to see what they can come up with to get somebody in there.”
She did add that there are a few people interested in the location but nothing for certain at this point.
