The contract for Junction City Municipal Court renovation and expansion has been
approved by the City Commission.
It is with Cheney Construction in the amount of $919,382, 20.4% less than the architect’s estimate.
Commissioner Pat Landes expressed concern about going with that bid because it was so low. “So far below the other bidders. I have great concerns about the quality that is going to take place, quality of the subcontractors, quality of materials and staff time that’s going to have to oversee this to make sure it’s done the right way because it’s so below the other contractors. I’m really concerned about that.”
The Commission approved the contract on a 4-1 vote, with Landes opposed.
