The hope last month was to have a full draft of the new comprehensive plan for Junction City to the Junction City/Milford/Geary County Metropolitan Planning Commission this month for discussion.
Dave Yearout, Planning and Zoning Administrator explained that as RDG Planning and Design begin putting together the full draft
numerous minor issues were discovered. To correct those Yearout will be traveling to Omaha, Nebraska, next week to sit down face to face with RDG and hopefully get those issues corrected. He then hopes to have the full draft to the MPC in two weeks.
“The idea would be to have this on the September meeting for open discussion, with the hope that if you are comfortable with where that document is, please understand we are not pushing on this thing, if you are comfortable you would then vote to set the public hearing and we would then do that in October,” Yearout explained.
By statue the MPC must hold a public meeting. If there are no major changes made to the plan following the October meeting the MPC could then adopt the final draft of the plan and send it to both the Junction City and Geary County commissions for final adoption as the official comprehensive plan.
