Health Department Receives Grant Funds

The Geary County Health Department has been selected to receive $17,712 in Chronic Disease healthRisk Reduction grant funding from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to implement tobacco prevention and control activities.

Locally, the money will assist with multiple activities focused on tobacco cessation, and aiming to impact youth plus pregnant and nursing women.

According to Dani Holliday from the Health Department, the Geary County Prevention Partnership serves as the coalition for the CDRR Grant in Geary County.  The Partnership was formed in 2010 to assist and empower local residents to make positive choices. They focus on providing prevention tools to reduce high risk behaviors and destructive decisions that may lead to substance abuse in teens in Geary County.
