The latest test results on blue green algae at Milford Lake are in. The Operations Project Manager for the Corps of Engineers R. J. Harms released a statement Thursday.
As a result of the Blue-Green Algae samples collected this week, KDHE has recommended Milford Lake be placed in a lake-wide “Advisory” status. Test results in two locations were actually slightly above the “warning” level but recent weather conditions and low toxin levels associated with all 5 sample locations have KDHE hopeful that cell counts and toxin levels will continue to trend downward and improve.
Under an “Advisory” status testing would normally occur at two weeks but KDHE has scheduled samples to be collect next Monday to closely monitor conditions with the hope that BG Algae impacts are diminishing and Milford Lake can be lifted from all restrictions in the near future.
