The Percheron horse owned by Ben and Peggy Bennett of Junction City has died.
The horse, “Big Ben,” was part of the Black Horse Hitch with Munson Angus Farms.
Ben Bennett said the horse had been suffering from Colic, “which is like having an upset stomach and to be a little constipated, and horses have a hard time relieving themselves with that situation without something to help them. ” Bennett added, “It’s almost too late when you do realize it, many times if they don’t give a lot of sign. He hadn’t given some of the usual signs.”
Big Ben was approximately six-and-a half feet tall, and was 12 years old. He was well known.
“A lot of people in the community knew him, a lot of the kids, school kids knew him. We really are very sad today in losing a very big and good friend for the whole community.”
“Big Ben” died Tuesday morning.
