There have been a lengthy series of vehicle burglaries in Junction City in recent weeks.
Police Chief Tim Brown reported on Wednesday that five juveniles have now been arrested in connection with those burglaries. He said authorities received a break last week when two local businesses, Handy’s on Grant Avenue and the Disabled American Veterans in the 1500 block of North Washington. “Either there had been an attempt at the DAV overnight or the Handy’s was broken into overnight. We got some surveillance photos from both locations. Detectives were able to take those photographs and identify two individuals that we believe were responsible for those two incidents.”
Brown said both were located, and last week four people were arrested in connection with the car burglaries, and two of the four were allegedly responsible for the burglaries at the Handy’s burglary and DAV attempted burglary.
The investigation continued and another juvenile was arrested Tuesday in connection with a number of the car burglaries. Brown confirmed that two of the juveniles were also arrested in connection with an alleged arson fire….a trash dumpster fire.
The investigation continues. Brown added authorities believe others may have also been involved and they are looking into that possibility.
