The open carry of firearms will become legal starting July 1st throughout Kansas however signs that would be posted have yet to be approved.

State Representative Allan Rothlisberg of Grandview Plaza explained that the prototype has been created but it has yet to be approved. Due to the delay he want’s to make it known that private vendors and businesses that sell alcohol will not be obligated to sell to anyone who is carrying a firearm.
“Basically if they see somebody with a weapon they can just say, ‘Hey look I don’t want you to get into trouble, you shouldn’t be drinking and have a weapon. I don’t want you to get stopped by the police and have a breathalyzer taken.’ If you fail a breathalyzer test then you can have your weapon confiscated and they can get you for public intoxication,” Rothlisberg said.
It is not clear when the signage will be approved. Rothlisberg said that as long as the vendors know that they can refuse to serve alcohol to anyone with a firearm things will be alright until the signage is approved and placed.
