Flint Hills Regional Council Elects to Leave Assessment Fee’s the Same

At the Flint Hills Regional Councils May meeting it was discussed whether or not to raise the assessment fee’s charged to each jurisdiction.

The council had three options leave the fee’s the same, raise the fee’s .25Flint-Hills-Regional-Council1-288x300 cents per capita for every jurisdiction, or move to a three tier system based on the population of the jurisdiction.

On Friday the Regional Council elected to keep it’s fee’s the same, .50 cents per capita by jurisdiction.

“The overarching concept really was that it was important to keep the Regional Council together,” says William ‘Bill’ Clark, FHRC Executive Director. “What’s more important than the money is that the jurisdictions that are currently a part of the Regional Council remain a part of the Regional Council.”

The Regional Council also elected to move forward with sending an invitation to the community of Reading to join the FHRC, and they are continuing to actively approach the city of Abilene to rejoin the council.
