Rain Didn’t Stop Brett Eldredge from Performing for the Troops

Despite the rain Tuesday Brett Eldredge’s “Salute to our Troops” concert put on by Sony Playstation at Fort Riley still went on.

The concert was moved indoors to the gym inside the Long Fitness Center on post.

Eldredge said that he had a chance to tour Fort Riley before the show and witnessed the lowering of the U.S. flag at 5:00 p.m.

“I literally got to see them lower the flag, and everybody stopped what they were doing, and that was so cool. You don’t get to see that everyday, it’s a sense of respect that I want to see a lot more in this country, and I love that I got to see that. I was floored by that,” Eldredge said.

Like a lot of people the military has impacted his life in one way or another. His home town of Paris, Illinois, is home to the Illinois National Guard 1544th Transportation Company, and he mentions that company in his song “Signs.”

“At the time we had lost some of the most that a Reserve Unit had ever lost, and so our town was gathered around that division. It was a big deal to me, and ever since then it’s been a huge part of my life, and I want to make it even more than that.”

Brett Eldredge, is an up and coming country performer. His resume includes a Country Music Association Awards nomination for “New Artist of the Year.” His hits include the singles “Don’t Ya” and  “Beat of the Music.”  His debut album titled “Bring You Back” was released on Atlantic Records.  His act is characterized by his high energy.

Over 750 people turned out for the free concert.
