The National Weather Service out of Topeka has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Geary County, northern Morris County, and Wabaunsee County until 3:15 a.m. Tuesday.
A Flood Warning has also been issued for Lyon Creek near Junction City from Tuesday morning until Tuesday afternoon. At 9:15 p.m. Monday the creek stage was at 17.6 feet. Flood stage is 21 feet.
The creek is expected rise near 21.2 feet by Tuesday morning and expected to fall below flood stage by late Tuesday afternoon. At 21 feet the northern bank of the creek floods near the Highway 77 bridge.
Do not drive into flooded areas. Shallow flowing water can wash a car from the roadway. Also, the roadbed may be washed out under the water.
