An 8th inning single by Scott Tyler scored Dusty Mass from second base, and that was the only
run in the 1-0 Junction City Brigade victory over the Topeka Golden Giants Saturday night at Rathert Field.
Mass entered the game in the 8th inning and singled to lead off the Brigade’s at bat. He advanced to second when Jordan Hodges drew a walk. Tyler then came to the plate with his base hit driving in Mass.
Three pitchers combined for the Brigade to pitch the shutout, including Dalton Shalberg, Jordan Witcig, and Sean Talkington. Talkinton came on in the ninth, hit one batter, but then managed to retire the side.
The win was the first of the season for Junction City ( 1-1 ). The Golden Giants fell to 5-2.
The two teams play again Sunday night at 7 p.m. at Rathert Field.
