Crews began the demolition of the old Fort Riley Middle School earlier this week.
The plan is to have the old school completely demolished and the site
cleared by the end of June according to William ‘Bill’ Clark, Director of Business Operations at Geary USD 475.
“We’re hoping all of the demolition and debris will be carried off by the end of June so they can really begin the next phase of construction which is right there, which will be the northern parking lot and ball field,” explained Clark.
Clark did say that construction on the new school is still on schedule for it’s August 12th opening date.
“It’s on time which is great news. When school begins we still have, as I mentioned, the northern parking lot and the ball field will still have to be finished but that was always a part of the plan.”
