If you were looking for a glimpse at what a real circus performance looks like Junction City was the place to be Thursday night.
The Carson and Barnes circus set up their big top tent Thursday at the former Dick Edwards Auto Dealership on Grant Avenue in Junction City.
The “Real Circus” is a part of the Carson and Barnes Circus motto, according to Jairo Ojeda, Ring Master.
“What we mean by that is we offer what a real circus should offer, and that’s animals, acrobats, dare devils, funny clowns, flying trapezes, the whole works underneath the old fashioned big top. The way it’s meant to be seen,” Ojeda said.
The Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce helped put on the circus and John Terry, Activities Director, said that it’s something they will look into doing again possibly.
“I’m going to get together with the activities and advisory boards here in the chamber and the board and give them an after action review, as we say in the Army,” Terry said. “Let them know where we stand financially, and how much effort it took, and if there is room for improvement.
Carson and Barnes put on two shows, one at 4:30 p.m. and another at 7:30 p.m..
