There will be a race for the Republican nomination for the 65th District seat in the Kansas House of Representatives in the August primary election.

Incumbent Allan Rothlisberg, Republican,  Grandview Plaza, will be challenged by Lonnie Clark, Republican, of Junction City.

The filing deadline was noon on Monday.  A check of the list of candidates on the Secretary of State’s website revealed both Clark and Rothlisberg are Republican candidates for the 65th District seat.  The winner in the August primary election will advance to the November election.

Tom Brungardt is the only candidate to file on the Democratic ticket.

In the race for the 1st District Seat on the Geary County Commission incumbent Ben Bennett is the only candidate to file for election. He is a Republican.

Bennett filed for election to a third term on the Commission.
