The Junction City Geary County Relay for Life was Friday night into Saturday morning at Al Simpler Stadium.

This year 29 teams signed up for the Relay for Life according to Glenda Johnson, Event Coordinator.

“This year we were going to try and raise $35,000 but you know I’m always happy with whatever we can get. Right now we’re looking at a little over $16,000 so that’s always a blessing in my eyes,” Johnson said.

The event was kicked off with the opening ceremony which included a survivors lap and a luminary service.

Relay for life is an annual nationwide fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
