JCPD Block Party Big Success

Heritage Park was full of people Friday night for the Junction City Police Department’s annual Block Party.

Captain Chuck Leithoff explained that between 400 and 450 people BLOCK PARTY ONEattended this years block party.

“A lot of kids, we’ve seen a lot of kids this year I mean they were everywhere. We had a lot of them riding the seat belt convincer, we probably used that more than we have in the past. They were in the bouncy houses, we had to chase them out when they took them down,” Leithoff said.

The block party included free food donated by local businesses along with demonstrations ranging from a taser demonstration to a K-9 and SWAT team demonstration.

BLOCK PART TWO“We did end up tasing somebody but it was some of our new recruits at the Police Department.”

Tim Brown, Chief of Police said that this event gives the community an opportunity to interact one on one with the police force.

“Kind of see what we do, the equipment that we use and just to interact with us in a venue like this is just great,” Chief Brown said.

The event wrapped up with Jason Divad’s “One Man Fire Circus,” and a movie in the park.
