The Junction City Lady Jay 4×400 relay team will run in the finals of that event at the State Track Meet on Saturday in Wichita.
In the prelims on Friday the team of Myrissa Humphreys, Deisjambra
Bisio, Rosie Hollis,and Nashaia Nixon turned in the fourth fastest time at 4:07.16, The top eight times qualify for the finals. That race is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Cessna Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University.
“You know our girls have been improving in that race throughout the year and they are where they need to be,” Head Coach Randall Zimmerman said. “They were second in their heat and fourth overall, just right in the mix. We hope to get up on the medal stand tomorrow with a nice medal.”
Also for Junction City in the preliminary round of competition Deisjambra Bisio finished 15th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:02.67, but did not qualify for the finals. The Lady Jay 4×100 relay team of Samonte Jones, Raynell Wilson, Le’Minnie Garrison, and Nashaia Nixon finished ninth in 50.64, but will not advance to the finals.
There are no members of the Blue Jay boys track team competing at the State Meet this year.
