Ben Bennett, Geary County Commissioner filed for re-election Friday afternoon in the Geary County Clerks office.

Bennett represents the 1st District and is up for re-election. He explained that he has had many supporters ask him to run again.

“I pretty much new that I was going to most of the time. There were just a few times that I was concerned, number one about my health. So I made sure that I was okay by getting several things checked out in the last few months, and once that was completed and there were not any real problems there I decided to try for one more term,” Bennett said.

He went on to explain that there are a lot of things that he is involved in through the County Commission and would like to see those through.

“To be able to fill obligations concerning regionalism, partnerships with Fort Riley, the growth of the community, and the financial wellness of the community. Those are all things that we’ve been working on and I would like to see those through.”

As of Friday afternoon no one else had filed for the 1st District race. The filing deadline is at noon on Monday.
