Wakefield High School will send 16 athletes to the State Track Meet in Wichita Friday and Saturday ( May 30-31 ).  Fourteen are scheduled to compete, while two are alternates.

According to the results from the 2A Regional Meet in Herington, those from Wakefield who qualified for state include:

Wakefield Boys:

–John Yenni, High Jump

–Ethan Hammond, Pole Vault

–Zack Melius, 100, 200, and 400 meter dash events

–Brock Barrett, 800 meter run

–The 4 x 800 meter relay team of John Yenni, Brock Barrett, Blake Otto, and Brandon Taylor

–The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Zack Melius, Dylan Murphy, John Yenni, and Brock Barrett.

The 4 x 800 relay team from Wakefield finished first in the regional meet. The Wakefield Bombers finished third out of 14 teams in the boys team competition with 58 points. Washington County finished first with 116 points.

–Sara Casaus, Long Jump, 100 Meter Dash, 200 meter Dash,

–Chy Riggs, Shot Put

–Katie Yarrow, 3200 Meter Run,

–4 x 800 Meter Relay team of  Leah Loredo, Siarra Taylor, Sierra Otto, Dani Sanders

–4 x 400 Meter Relay team of Siarra Taylor, Sara Casaus, Katie Yarrow, Kenzy Barrett.

The Wakefield girls finished fifth out of 14 teams in the girls team competition at the regional meet.
