Returning students at Geary USD 475 are now able to enroll online via Skyward Family Access.
The school district opened up the online enrollment on Monday for elementary and middle school students. They hope
to have it open to the high school by the end of the week as well.
Jennifer Black, Ware Elementary Assistant Principal explained that in order to enroll online you first need to log into Skyward Family Access.
“Which allows them to get in and see their students grades and along with that then they will see a URL which they will click on, and it will open up the opportunity to enroll their children,” Black explained.
If a parent has multiple students within the district once they start enrolling one, common information such as phone numbers and addresses will be associated to the other students, requiring parents to only enter that information once.
Black said that it is a fairly quick and easy process.
“I was at Sheridan Elementary last week during their school in review night, and I was watching a few parents and it was only taking them 20 minutes to get online and to get that completed. Some of them had more than one student and so it should be much easier for parents.”
Later this summer the goal is to also allow parents to pay for text book rental fees. Child nutrition packets, including applications for free and reduced meals, will be available online beginning July 14th.
Students who are currently attending, or would like to attend a school outside of their boundaries will still need to obtain a transfer form from the school they would like to attend. Those forms must be filled out each year and approved by the principal.
New students to the district will still need to enroll at their school during school hours or during walk in enrollment in August.
