The recipients of the $500 LaVerne Allen Memorial Nursing Scholarship have been identified.
They include Meagan Campuzano, Junction City, Kim Keating, Milford, and Victoria Martinez, Junction City. The announcement was made by Laurel Peterson, registered nurse and scholarship chair at Geary Community Hospital.
Campuzano is a graduate of Manhattan High School and plans to pursue practical nursing at Manhattan Area Technical College in the fall. She currently works as a CNA in the medical / surgical unit at Geary Community Hospital.
Keating is a graduate of St. Xavier high School and plans to pursue a nursing degree at the University of Kansas, with the goal of ultimately using her nursing education in mission work and helping those who need healing. She graduated first in her class with a 3.9375 grade-point average.
Martinez is a graduate of Junction City High School. She plans to attend Wichita State University where she will seek to graduate as a neonatal nurse practitioner. Martinez graduated 12th in her class of 355 with a 4.1 grade-point average.
