Incoming Geary USD 475 Superintendent Dr. Corbin Witt would like to see a holistic review of school district facilities.
He offered his input to the Board of Education during a goal setting discussion by the Board…asking them when was the last time a full facility study was done in the District.
Witt told JCPost.com he wants to see where 475 stands, what is needed, and where officials need to lead the district to provide “the best possible education for all of our students.”
Witt said a review would involve bringing in an outside agency to study the District’s facilities. “Meeting with the board, meeting with the schools, finding out what are the needs, where do we see things that need to be changed, and giving us a full review of what would be in the best interest of USD 475 to move into the future, and meet the needs of our kids well into the future.”
Witt added everything from roofs to foundations could be involved.
Dr. Ferrell Miller, Board of Education President, said it’s been four or five years since the District has done something like that type of study, and added he thought 475 is ready for that.
At this point no final action has been taken by the Board on the matter. The subject arose as the members of the BOE talked about facilities during their goal setting session for the coming year.
