Teachers in Geary USD 475 have voted to ratify their 2014-15 teaching contracts. Junction City Education Association President Cathy Rankin reported the final vote was 409 in favor and 93 voted no.

The next step is for the proposed contract to go to the Board of Education Monday for a final vote. The Board will meet at 5 p.m. Monday at the Devin Center.

The contract would include an approximate 2.8% salary increase for teachers, although that would vary some by position. There would also be a small increase in the District’s contribution to the employee health insurance. Rankin said, “A lot of the teachers were very excited about what we’ve done with the salary schedule, and that we were able to get them some increases.”
