Commencement for Junction City High School is Sunday evening at 6 o’clock at Al Simpler Stadium.

The annual Project Graduation Party for the graduating seniors will follow in the High School. 

Dana Weigand, coordinator, said doors will open at 10 p.m. with students expected to arrive by 11 p.m. “Well have a variety of festivities from three-on-three basketball to a three-point shooting contest, half-court shooting contest. We’ll also have board games down in the cafeteria from Apples to Apples. The game, Minute to Win It, will also be available.  Prizes will also be given out every hour.

Wiegand expects attendance to run in the 150 to 180 range.

The party should end about 3:30 a.m.

Fundraising for Project Graduation was done through a fireworks stand operated last summer, and through donations from parents.

The party has a purpose. “It is so important for the kids to have a substance free safe environment to celebrate with the graduates.”
