This is the annual cross country motorcycle ride from the west coast to the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial in Washington D.C.

The local coordinator David Eckles expects the group of approximately 300 riders to arrive in Junction City about 5 p.m. Sunday. They’ll come off Interstate 70 and travel north on South Washington St. to Heritage Park. “I’ll have a flag line. We’ll need about 300 volunteers to hold flags. ”

Once the riders arrive there will be a ceremony at the Kansas Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial in Heritage Park.   Later, dinner will be provided at the JC Naz Church and the riders will spend the night in Junction City. On Monday morning breakfast will be provided by the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Chapter.

From Junction City the riders will travel east to their next overnight stop in Wentzville, Mo.

The State Coordinator of Run for the Wall Carl Brown works to ensure all the stops for the riders across Kansas are prepared.  He said for the most part the riders undertake this effort to develop awareness of POW’s and MIA’s that have still not accounted for. “We’ve still got some from Korea that have not been returned. Whether it’s the POW’s or the MIA’s, we have a POW now, a young sergeant that’s over in Afghanistan. He’s been on there for quite awhile. It’s more to bring attention…hey we need to get these guys back.”

Brown added many of the riders are Vietnam era veterans. “Going to the Wall it’s more of a healing ride. And bringing back that brotherhood and that camraderie that they had when they were serving, and mostly to heal, and feel good about themselves. “
