The Junction City Commission has given their approval to the purchse of a 2000 LDV Freightliner Mobile Command Post vehicle.
The total cost of the vehicle is $85,000. The JCPD will play half of the cost, and the Sheriff’s Department the remainder. Police Chief Tim Brown explained no tax money will be used. “This will be funded with drug forfeiture money by the Junction City Police Department, by the Geary County Sheriff’s Office. We will fund maintenance of it with drug forfeiture money, and there is no anticipation at this time of using any taxpayer money. ”
The Geary County Commission had already given their approval for the Sheriff’s Department to move forward with the purchase of the vehicle, which is currently located in Ohio.
