USD 475 Teacher Contract Bargaining Update

The negotiators working on 2014-2015 USD 475 teaching contracts are nearing a tentative agreement which could be submitted to the Junction City Education membership and then the Board of Education for possible ratificationUSD 475 Logo

In the salary and benefits area an approximate 2.8% increase is proposed for teachers. Associate Superintendent Dr. Beth Hudson said the participants on the Interest Based Bargaining Team think it’s a good package. “Benefits most teachers. Little bit of an insurance increase, but overall probably about a 2.8% increase in the salary schedule from last year.” That increase would vary some by position.

The proposal also includes an $8 increase by the District in the single health insurance policy contribution for teachers, and $10 in the family plan.  There would also be  adjustments in some positions in the Supplemental Salary Schedule where research showed they were the most underpaid positions.  For example, JCEA President Cathy Rankin mentioned the high school band, and high school yearbook and newspaper program would benefit.

The negotiating team will review the proposed teaching contract May 9. If approved there it would then be submitted to the JCEA membership for a ratification vote, and if approved, go to the Board of Education for a final vote.
